Vision

The “Coasting Along Theatre Society” (CATS) was created to assist with the promotion and education of the performing arts on the Sunshine Coast and beyond.

By way of instruction and encouragement with a unique and integrative approach, this not-for-profit society assists with the nurturing of youth and adults of the area to help achieve their full potential with classical ballet and dance.  All students are professionally trained by local performers and other practiced artists brought in to further enhance their skill and continue to peak their interest in dance and other aspects of the arts.

This not-for-profit society also offers the community with the opportunity to participate in the classic Nutcracker ballet. Since 2012, the society has provided a venue to showcase this timeless masterpiece to the community incorporating the students and professional dancers to give a vibrant, breathtaking presentation to sold out crowds and rave reviews.  Countless volunteers are also involved assisting with everything from instruction, dancing, costume design, set design, lighting and photography to further enhance the experience to the participants and audience.  This society not only provides education for the arts, it also provides additional life skills to those who may be looking for a new trade or opportunity to experience.

However, this does not come without cost. Without the volunteers we would be lost, but of course, there are always other costs incurred that can’t be ignored.  With the help of local businesses and other supporters, the society has been able to continue with the production year after year, but we still need financial assistance to really ensure that the production can continue with the same integrity and increased performance that the troupe and community deserves.

With your help, the society can truly reach its full potential offering students and those involved an opportunity to further extend the benefits of the arts and community engagement.  The society is looking at extending its opportunity to perform and will advise when the next event is on the schedule.

Please feel free to contact us for further information and we look forward to giving back more than you’ve given.
