The Smile Cookie Campaign is huge - and our local Tim Horton's chose Coasting Along Theatre Society and their Nutcracker to be the recipients of the cookie campaign, again. For seven days in September Tim Hortons' customers had the opportunity to purchase a chocolate chunk cookie for $1. 100% of the proceeds goes into The Nutcracker production!
We had our cast and crew pre-sell cookies, and during the week our members were out in full force. We had a lofty goal, set by the "enthusiastic" Artistic Director, Kathleen Holmes, and with the dedicated Tim Horton’s staff, dancers and parents we sold 12,266 cookies on the coast!
The coast saw businesses buying cookies for their employees, and also donating cookies to our firefighters, RCMP deatchments, Arrowhead, and other organizations. But this community went beyond just purchasing cookies, they donated money also, so the Nutcracker raised over $13,000 this year with the Smile Cookie Campaign.
Fundraising for the arts is a challenge and we are extremely grateful to Tim Horton’s for their continued support. The Nutcracker is a spectacular production – with local talent, and guest artists, special effects, amazing scenery, sets and costumes – all designed and produced locally. The magic is real!
