Coasting Along Theatre Society
C.A.T.S.
Coasting Along Theatre Society’s inaugural launch of the perennial Christmas favorite THE NUTCRACKER squarely places C.A.T.S. as a new vibrant component of the Coast’s arts community.
The Nutcracker is the first of a planned series of professionally produced and directed ballets in the seasons to come. This made possible by the engagement of artistic directors David and Kathleen Holmes. They bring to the Coast an international recognized spectrum of talents. Not only as performing artists in some of the world’s most prestigious opera theaters and concert halls but also as international tour director and impresario, as well as directing and staging major classic ballets, managing and directing International performing arts festivals and last but not least acclaimed as master teachers.
In addition to presenting the highest quality ballet productions, serving a coastal population of over 30,000 residents not including tourists, C.A.T.S. mission also focuses on broadening dance education in the communities with inventive and creative programming while honoring the traditional teaching principals integral to the art form. An outreach programme is under development designed to impact all of the Coast’s primary and secondary schools.
C.A.T.S. will set the standard for artistic excellence in ballet productions and outreach programs in the coastal region. Our productions serve as an inspiration and goal for the many students of the community’s dance academies.
Coasting Along Theatre Society was formed in May of 2012 as a non-profit organization.
The Coasting Along Theatre Society is dedicated to offer the communities of the Sunshine Coast full length professionally produced ballets from the classical and contemporary repertoire. These will be on an annual basis starting with the perennial family favorite The Nutcracker.
In addition to this we will add other popular works during the year with some designed to travel. These will be vehicles that will enhance the development of our local aspiring artists by working under the guidance of professional
directors and choreographers and alongside visiting guest artists.
It is our desire to further enrich a thriving theatre scene, for residence and visitors alike.
